Component Testing

In today's world of increasing efforts to cut costs, components suppliers, regardless of tier, regardless of products, are often required to carry out their own in-house trials to minimize the potential dangers of their own products before they can be integrated into the final design. As always, light is an issue, but this is more true for some components than others.

Testing done in the open, as with airbag deployment or sled tests is more forgiving of lower light sensitivity and a larger body. Contrariwise, examinations of enclosed operations or those transpiring within tight quarters require a faster light absorption and smaller cameras. For either situation, IDT has needs covered.

The Y-Series is specialized to take advantage of circumstances where space is not so important. For automobile component safety tests, the Y3-S1 and Y3-S2 bodies offer the best combination of sensitivity, size and speed with sensors capable of capturing up to 6000 frames per second at a 1280x1024 resolution and absorbing light at a rate equivalent to 6000 ISO in mono and 2000 ISO in color.

When the camera must be small and tough, the N-Series provides cameras measuring at a petite 60x60x75mm and weighing in at 0.48kg, and just as rugged as the larger counterparts. Despite the size, the sensors inside the N4s remain capable of capturing the same amount of light as the larger builds.
