N Series - MotionXtra

What began as an effort to provide automakers with the high speed solution they needed to effectively and efficiently monitor the safety tests in their vehicles has transformed into a new approach with the N-Series. Combining the finest traits of the small bodied M-Series and the powerful Y-Series, N-Series cameras occupy the expert middle ground, satisfying the needs of those for whom physical space is limited but who, nonetheless, need to record accelerated instances.

Designed to be small, each camera in the series is about the size of a regulation baseball: 60x60x75mm (2.4x2.4x3.0in). This size makes each ideal for applications in confined quarters or where the observer's footprint must remain minimal, such as machine troubleshooting or niche biological observation. Weighing 0.48kg (1.05lb), N-Series cameras also profit those needing to eliminate as much weight as possible from their object of study, including in-cockpit or on-body airborne testing. The internal battery backup and ability to operate autonomously, untethered to the computer, gives users additional freedom to place and operate according to their needs. IDT's forward-thinking compact design also makes the camera ideally-suited for the changing film industry, as these cameras are 3-D ready.

Following a spate of enhancements made possible by the ingenuity of IDT engineers, new N-Series cameras have gained capabilities previously thought impossible for such a small-bodied device. These include integration of higher capacity memory options (currently up to 2.5GB, 5GB in the near future), GPS and IRIG-B time code, and IDT's proprietary Pixel Pipeline, which both enhances the images captured by the camera and expands the end user's real time control of the image without unnecessarily complicating the user interface. With the ruggedized option, N-Series cameras bestow even greater flexibility, including the option to record underwater without the need of an additional casing.

As with all IDT cameras, N-Series offerings are fully compatible with Motion Studio—via Gigabit ethernet for the N-Series—creating the potential to integrate them into a system comprised of any cameras from the three series. Additionally, all cameras are resistant of shock up to 100Gs, meeting the needs of those who know they will be pushing the cameras to the limit. Exposure times for all cameras can be as fast as 1µs, minimizing motion blur for the fastest of movements. Each camera contains one of three IDT-developed sensors which specializes in one of the three tradeoffs: resolution, speed and light sensitivity.

N3 balances speed and sensitivity with resolution.

N4 focuses on speed and sensitivity over resolution.

N5 focuses on resolution over speed and sensitivity.
