The Orion II sensor used in the N5 consists of 2336x1728 pixels 7 microns in diameter, making it the perfect choice for those whose budgets and requirements demand the finest detail available in the smallest package. Despite the pixels' small size, the sensor's quantum efficiency has been improved, furnishing the camera with a light sensitivity equivalent to sensors with larger pixels, i.e., 3000 ISO mono, 1000 ISO color.
Topping out at 640 frames per second at maximum resolution, and increasing in speed as the region of interest is decreased, N5 offers the greatest latitude in image size among the compact and rugged N-Series cameras. The N5 is ideal for situations requiring a light weight high speed camera able to resolve the tiniest detail, which include supplementary external mounts in on-board crash systems, testing of products with small parts, and certain military airborne studies. Another are of special use for the N5 is film where the meta-2K resolution lends itself to high definition digital cinema.
