For any situation where light and space are limited, N4 has got things covered. Based around the Polaris II sensor which offers an unmatched at this size 6000 ISO for monochromatic imaging, or 2000 ISO for color. Each pixel in the megapixel display is 13.9 microns in diameter and boasts an excellent S/N ratio, further enhancing the desirability of the N4 for low light activities.
Customization of the N4 extends beyond the hard drive and trigger options of the other N-Series cameras to include speed options for a greater ability to choose according to one's needs. Choosing S1 is for those whose speed needs are moderate, as the maximum normal speed is 1000fps, while S2 provides 2000fps and the S3 provides 3000fps, the fastest speed option for this size camera at full resolution. In plus mode all of these speeds are double, meaning that with an N4-S3, users are able to record in a resolution of 1016x1016 at 6000 frames per second!
Tasks suited especially well to the N4 include on-board, in-vehicle crash testing when the lighting can not always illuminate every detail. Component and durability testing also benefit from the size and light sensitivity allowing for multiple tests in smaller quarters or through the use of borescope. A third option is scientific study, such as of populations in their natural or a simulated habitat.
