SM-2 Block IV Missile
This footage shows a sea-based SM-2 Block IV missile launched from the USS Lake Erie. Filmed using the HG-XR (now available as the enhanced HG-N), the footage is part of the ongoing documentation of the Pacific Missile Range, based in Hawaii. These missiles are part of the U.S. Navy's surface-to-air defense arsenal, and a component of the Missile Defense System. Missiles from the USS Lake Erie were also used to shoot down a disabled satellite in February 2008.
